Kaospilot — Lisbon Outpost
Hosting locally an international education semester.
Beyond our formal role as Lisbon local partners for the Kaospilot Outpost, the experience became a shared journey of discovery—where our team, the Kaospilot student team leaders, and the students came to see Lisbon not just as home, but as our teacher.
Kaospilot (a Denmark-based transformative education provider) chose Lisbon for their “Outpost” semester in Enterprising Leadership Education. During an Outpost, a student team of about 35 young adults relocates abroad for 3 months to collaborate with local projects and learn in an unfamiliar context.
We first partnered in 2024 to be the local partners. This role combined bringing regenerative thinking and design to the Outpost with local implementation support and navigating Portuguese culture. What really excited us about working with Kaospilot was the potential synergy between their learning process and our own approach—particularly how they integrate Knowing, Doing, and Being across systemic, team, and individual levels through continuous action and reflection.
The experience was so rich that we teamed up again in 2025, before the Outpost set sail for new shores. While there are countless stories and outcomes to share, we are especially proud of a ‘Story of Place’ short film created by a student team we mentored. It beautifully captures the essence and living potential of Penha de França, the neighborhood that hosted them twice, alongside the students’ discovery process.
